Conventional questions about a child's feelings often yield vague responses such as "I don’t know." However, encouraging children to express their emotions through drawing can reveal deeper truths, including feelings they might be unaware of or hesitant to articulate verbally.

Within the app, Dr. Woliver employs children’s artwork to illustrate their experiences, emotions, and needs at various developmental stages. This visual approach allows parents and grandparents to better understand how to support their children through divorce.

Many drawings depicted are poignantly honest; some may evoke sorrow, while others inspire resilience. These images serve as powerful motivators and foster hope that children can not only endure but also flourish beyond the experience.

The Divorce App is based on Dr. Woliver’s book Mango Season Doesn’t Last Forever: A Guide to Helping Children Cope with Divorce, reflecting her 25 years of professional experience working with children affected by divorce. Its purpose is to support children in not only surviving but also deriving positive growth from this life change.
